Sleep Apnea

Sleep Apnea Treatment Options

There is no single treatment for sleep apnea — the right choice depends on how severe it is, your anatomy, and what you can realistically live with every night. Here are the main paths, explained honestly.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Understanding Sleep & Airway Health

Oral Appliance Therapy

A custom-made mouthguard-style device gently holds your lower jaw forward during sleep, keeping the airway open. Small, silent, and travel-friendly — the most popular alternative to CPAP for mild to moderate apnea.

CPAP Therapy

The gold standard for severe apnea: a machine delivers steady air pressure through a mask. Highly effective, though some patients struggle with comfort — we coordinate with your sleep physician on fit and alternatives.

Lifestyle Changes

Weight reduction, side sleeping, limiting evening alcohol, and quitting smoking all measurably reduce apnea episodes. They work best combined with a device, not instead of one.

Positional Therapy

If your apnea happens mostly on your back, simple positional devices train you to sleep on your side — a low-tech fix for a positional pattern.

Surgical Evaluation

Selected anatomical problems — enlarged tonsils, a deviated septum, excess throat tissue — can be addressed surgically. We refer to trusted ENT and sleep specialists when this is the right route.

Combination Plans

Often the best result comes from pairing: an oral appliance plus weight management, or CPAP plus positional training. Your plan is built around your severity, not a template.

Follow-Up & Adjustments

Appliance therapy is not fit-and-forget. We review your progress, adjust the device as your jaw adapts, and re-test periodically to confirm the apnea is actually being controlled.

Experienced Team

Our dentists combine modern airway diagnostics with gentle, patient-first care at every visit.
