Noticed a visible hole or pit in a tooth? That is advanced decay, and the tooth is asking for help. The good news: a hole does not automatically mean extraction — most teeth with holes are fully restorable.
Not sure which treatment fits your case? Book a visit — we will examine, explain, and plan it with you.
By the time decay is visible as a hole, it has been silently spreading for months — often starting between teeth where only X-rays could see it earlier.
We examine and image the tooth to see if the hole stops in enamel, reaches dentine, or touches the nerve. Depth decides the treatment, not the hole's size alone.
Most holes are fixed with bonded composite fillings — decay removed, tooth cleaned and sealed, shade matched. One comfortable appointment.
When the hole undermines too much structure, a crown rebuilds strength. It caps the tooth so chewing forces cannot split the weakened walls.
If the hole reaches the pulp, root canal treatment cleans the infection and the tooth is then crowned — keeping your natural tooth in place.
Holes trap food, harbour bacteria, and keep deepening. Today's filling becomes next month's root canal if left — the tooth decides the timeline, not you.
Check-ups catch cavities before they become holes. Combine six-monthly visits with fluoride toothpaste and daily flossing for real prevention.
Our dentists combine modern diagnostics with gentle, patient-first care at every visit.
